For those who are using window air conditioners, proper window air conditioner care includes checking for leaks on the hoses. The best time to check for leaks is during summer and before winter. Repair any leaks that are found right away in order for the air conditioner to run smoothly. One important factor in window air conditioner maintenance is keeping the air conditioner’s compressor clean. The compressor is the heart and soul of the air conditioner. And it is expensive to replace. One sure way of prolonging the compressors lifespan is by cleaning it.

Check the refrigerant lines of your air conditioners for any indications of leaks or bents. Check the fan/blower. Lubricate them if needed. Insulate the duct joints and leak. It is important to remember that all air conditioners must be regularly and maintained in order to get the most out of the unit either by yourself or thru professional service. However it is advisable that you have your air conditioning unit serviced by a professional at least twice a year because there are some things that only a professional can provide (e.g. recharging).

Remember, a regularly maintained AC unit has lower energy consumption than those that are not.
