Today most homes and offices have air conditioners. It is one of the comforts most of us take for granted. Buildings and offices nowadays use central air conditioners. However, when it comes to homes, some prefer using room air conditioners. That is because some people are not home all the time. Some people are home just to sleep or rest. That is why some of them would prefer having smaller air conditioning system rather than having a centralized one. Plus the cost of running a single unit versus a centralized system is great. Room air conditioners or room ACs are one good way of having the luxury of a cooling comfort right at your own room or home.
Room ACs are air conditioners used for cooling off a certain part of a house or building (in this case an office room). This type of air conditioning system is either mounted in a window or as a console. A room air conditioner is designed to vent cool air on a single room or enclosed space. Unlike a central air conditioning system, single room AC units are without air ducts and can be installed without the aid of a contractor. Room ACs are very efficient went it comes to cooling off a room, although, the energy consumption depends on the volume and BTU capability of the unit.
Room air conditioner units operates by alternating gas and liquid thru its pressurized refrigerants. Every time a room AC is activated, its condenser sucks in refrigerant gas and then pressurizes the pulled gas, thereby elevating the gas’ temperature. The hot pressurized gas will then pass through the condenser coil. These condenser coils have fins that allows it to disperse its heat to the air around it. The gas is then reduced into liquid form and then travels thru a series of evaporator coils by which are then vaporized into gas thru reduced pressure. A blower sucks the air on the room through its filter and transverse on the evaporator coils. The pulled air is then cooled and vented on the room. To make things simple, it just simply cools the room by sucking the heat from the air. Then cold air the room AC vents out are controlled via thermostat.
There are different types of room air conditioners. One type that is available is a portable room air conditioners. The great thing about this type of unit is that its mobile. You can move it from room to room. Most portable units have wheels to make moving it a breeze. So that if you want to stay in your favorite room that does not have air conditioning, you can just wheel the portable room air conditioner there, turn on the unit and your ready to go. No need to heavy lifters anymore.
Window room air conditioners and through the wall room air conditioners are the most common types of room ACs. These types of air conditioning systems are mostly found on most school systems and older buildings. A window type and through the wall air conditioner mostly are single rectangular room air conditioners. These air conditioners require a significant area in order for them to cool off the room. These air conditioners have dual vents, each on both sides (indoor side and outdoor side). The inside part of the air conditioner blows air in and out by the fan while the outside part function as a heat sink. The thermostat controls of these air conditioning systems are located on the inside part.
There are many options for you to choose from. For those who want to save money, keep in mind the overall cost of installing and operating the units. Be sure to consider your lifestyle also when selecting the right type of room air conditioning that is suitable for your needs. Things to keep in mind: Check the energy efficiency rating and look for highest ERR rates that can fit in your budget. A small horse powered room air condition is just right for a small room. It is not advisable to use large room air conditioners for a small room. Not only will it cost you more money on the unit itself, you will also spend more on your electric bill.
